Joe joins us to talk about strange and unique adaptations of technologies to further scientific research and a few less-scientific applications. Joe’s work extends to miniature camera systems, drones capable of flying and submersing in water, and a robotic camel jockey!
Joe Valencic, member #1109, is a Professor of Marine Science and Technology. He spent three seasons in the Antarctic with his Scripps team where they set a world record for the southern-most scuba dive. He was a producer for Discovery Channel’s “Lost Underwater Wrecks of WWII in Palau”, as well as working on the Discovery Channel special “In the Mind of the Demon”, on great white sharks.
