Echoes of Exploration with Erick Cedeño

Erick Cedeño’s passion for retracing history and shedding light on untold narratives sets him apart. In 2014 and 2020, he embarked on two significant journeys along the path of the Underground Railroad, riding his bicycle across the country from New Orleans to Niagara Falls, Canada.

In 2022, he meticulously and faithfully retraced the route of the Bicycle Corps – Buffalo Soldiers, an all-Black regiment of U.S. soldiers who undertook a remarkable 1,900 mile bicycle expedition from Missoula, Montana to St. Louis, Missouri in 1897.

In 2025, he will be joining the Full Circle Expeditions team, which is organizing a group of African-American explorers    who will make history by becoming the first Black explorers to attempt to reach the North Pole as a team. This new expedition aims to showcase Matthew Henson’s Arctic exploration, encourage underrepresented individuals to explore remote areas and raise awareness about climate change and Arctic scientific expeditions.

Erick Cedeño has garnered attention and recognition for his remarkable accomplishments as an explorer, historian, and engaging storyteller. His work has been featured in various esteemed publications, ranging from Outside Magazine to The New York Times, showcasing the depth of his impact and influence. In 2022, he was inducted to The Explorers Club. Cedeño’s journey is not just about traversing landscapes; it’s about connecting with history, celebrating the bravery of those who came before, and sharing their narratives with the world.
