Solo Motorcycle Ride to Alaska and Beyond with Michael Yang

Livestream

From 2018 to 2024, Michael Yang went on adventure motorcycle trips from LA to the ends of the roads in North America and South America.

These trips took him through many destinations including Prudhoe Bay, Alaska; St. John, Newfoundland, Canada; Baja California, Mexico; and Ushuaia, Argentina, in the Patagonia region of South America. He sometimes traveled with his best friend and riding buddy and sometimes alone to remote destinations.

This talk is about the adventure, friendship, reflections, and inward journey of self-discovery.

Michael was born and raised in Seoul, Korea, until he was 14 years old when he moved to California with his family in 1976. Growing up in San Jose, California, he fell in love with riding a Yamaha 100cc enduro motorcycle when he was 15.
He studied electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley and eventually founded an Internet start-up company in Silicon Valley, which was sold for over a half-billion dollars. He moved with his family to LA in 2013 and has been on adventure motorcycle trips throughout North America since 2018. He rode his bike for over 40,000 miles from LA to the ends of the road in Prudhoe Bay, St. John, Newfoundland, Canada, and Ushuaia, Argentina, Patagonia, South America. He is currently writing a memoir about his motorcycle trips and his adventures in life.
