Jim Dorsey, # 1081, has made eleven expeditions through eight countries of Asia, but has spoken little about it. Tonight, you will enter “HIDDEN ASIA” an Asia few will ever know. We will travel up the Mekong River by small boat, cross the river on the back of a swimming elephant, spend a day with a jungle moonshiner, cross Cambodia on a railroad flat car with stops at the killing fields and current land mine fields, and learn about the Khmer Rouge who still hold power in Cambodia.
We will visit a stronghold of Genghis Khan, explore the jungle bunkers of a drug lord who kept a private army of 30,000. We will learn about Buddhist monks that self- mummify while alive and spend a day with a Uyghur street beggar.
We will meet with political dissidents who are famous comedians, and attend a cock fight as the guest of an Asian mob boss. Finally, in a ruin that predates Angkor, the author had a rare glimpse into the essence of Buddhism. With dynamic photography, Jim’s one on one explorations will take you through an Asia much of the world is not aware of.
