Antarctica: “The Thing Expanded” with Wayne White

There is a ritual at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station that after the last aircraft departs and the station is officially “closed” the winter crew will gather in the gym for a rite of passage. They will view all three versions of the movie “The Thing” and prepare for a long dark winter physically cut off from the world for over nine months. Wayne L. White member #1194
had the honor of being the South Pole winter manager and participating in this ritual for three Antarctic winters.
