Adventures of a Real Batman with Dr. Merlin Tuttle

Dr. Merlin Tuttle is world famous for his research discoveries, photography, and conservation successes on behalf of bats. His collection of 150,000 bat photos served as the sole source of illustration for the Smithsonian’s book, BATS: An Illustrated Guide to All Species, and has been featured in his five National Geographic articles.

At 83, Dr. Tuttle passionately continues his conservation efforts, still photographing bats and training his successors. Last year he photographed bats from Costa Rica and Cuba to Thailand and Mozambique. While documenting their key roles in support of a healthy planet, he has had countless adventures – captured by terrorists, helped by moonshiners, charged by elephants, and stalked by lions.

He is the Executive Director of Merlin Tuttle’s Bat Conservation, home of the world’s finest bat gallery documenting bat values and needs. To learn more, or to support his work, visit MerlinTuttle.org. Bats are America’s most endangered mammals. They urgently need our help, and we need theirs!

Dr. Merlin Tuttle has studied and photographed bats worldwide for 65 years. His discoveries have been featured in a cover story in the journal Science, in five articles in National Geographic, and in hundreds of books and exhibits. His book, The Secret Lives Of BATS: My Adventures with the World’s Most Misunderstood Mammals, was selected as the best non-fiction book of the month by Amazon when it appeared in 2018. Dr. Tuttle has been a keynote speaker at national and international conventions from the U.S. and Czech Republic to Brazil and Chile. His podcast appearances include Alie Ward’s Ologies and Joe Rogan’s Experience. See Dr. Tuttle’s website MerlinTuttle.org for more information on his accomplishments.

Emmy Award-winning wildlife filmmaker Skip Hobbie is working on an independent feature documentary about Dr. Tuttle’s exciting and impactful life in science, photography and conservation.  Skip will be in attendance to film this event.  If anyone has any questions about the project, has an issue with possibly being seen on camera in attendance at the event, or is interested in becoming a Contributing Producer by making a tax deductible donation, please email skiphobbieproductions@gmail.com.
