In July of 1985 Wayne White decided he really needed a blowgun and poison darts. After some research he found the most direct way to obtain them was to journey to South America, specifically Colombia. While that route made the most sense by the map and air ticket price, it had a few issues. The issues included Colombia’s major guerrilla insurgency and the countries escalating drug violence. Not to be deterred, Wayne arrived in Bogota Colombia and then flew to Leticia which was Colombia’s Amazon port city. Wayne found the welcome in Leticia a bit lacking but undeterred, completed his quest by traveling upriver and was able to obtain the blowgun and poison darts.
Along the way Wayne met interesting people who were involved in a variety of business activities. He also experienced the theft of his poison darts by a monkey and a few days later he was listed as killed in a major air crash. All in all, it was a short but very eventful trip.
Please join us as Wayne recounts his experience.
