A Member’s only Tour of the Griffith Observatory for up to 8 members hosted on Friday Dec. 5th, 4:00 – 7:30PM, and watching their Live Major Lunar Standstill Northern Moonrise Broadcast by Dr. Ed Krupp on the Front Lawn of the Griffith Observatory. This is a Members Only private tour of Griffith Observatory and Observing the Major Lunar Standstill Northern Moonrise at its last standstill moonrise event, of the current 2024-2025 season of the Major Lunar Standstill Moonrises. Reservation for Members $15.00 Choices for Wolfgang Puck Boxed Meal Sandwiches: Turkey and Cheese, Ham & Cheese, or Vegetarian. Please write in your meal preference next to your name on your reservation. This is a weather dependent event, and there will be no refunds, in case of bad weather!

We will start off on Sunset Terrace with a Boxed Meal by Wolfgang Puck at 4-4:30PM, and Parking Passes are provided for the entire evening and are included in the $15 private event cost.
We will meet at 4PM on Sunset Terrace outside cafe, for an early boxed meal prepared by Wolfgang Puck. Allow extra driving time at it is usually busy at the observatory as sunset approaches!
Beginning about 4:30 we’ll go to the West Terrace and discuss the interpretive alignment designs in the pavement that represent the Major and Minor Standstill Lunar movements.

About 5PM we will watch the rising of the Major Lunar Standstill Northern Moonrise, and listen in on the Observatory’s broadcast team stream this live event, moderated by Dr Ed Krupp on the Front Lawn of the Observatory. This Lunar Moonrise event will be followed up with private access to a Zeiss Telescope, if visible we’ll discuss the constellation of the Pleiades and its involvement in earlier culture’s agricultural forecasts. Then at 7PM In the Leonard Nimoy theater we’ll attend the screening of “Pacific Standard Universe” a cosmologically informative film, recently produced by the Griffith Observatory.

Afterwards, guests will be free to stay and tour the observatory as it is open to the public, until it closes at 10PM with the provided parking. Additional Adventurers’ Club members, guests and public visitors to the Adventurers’ Club may join in at 7PM (Leonard Nimoy theater) or later. However anyone not in the the initial private tour group, will be responsible for their own parking, as parking passes are provided only for the initial Private Tour Group.

Note: For later attendees without a parking pass, parking cost is $10/hour at all surrounding meters.
