Quincy Lee- Cairo to Cape Town by Bicycle

This program was not recorded, or the recording has not been made public.

Quincy recounts his 11,500 kilometer crossing of the African continent.

Over the course of the 6 month expedition, he encountered ruthless deserts, towering mountains, wild animals and mud-soaked roads.

All on two wheels.

Quincy will describe the thrills of the long ride and the toils of a self-supported bicycle tour.

Towing 200 pounds across the desert, and seeing Victoria Falls were notable, but the bicycle allows the traveler to see every inch in between.

The journey becomes about the places along the way, with each new section of the road presenting its own unique challenge and reward.

While riding, Quincy and his two riding comrades, known as the Locos Ciclos, fundraise for World Bicycle Relief.

The organization provides bicycles to students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs in rural developing nations. During the bicycle tour, the Locos Ciclos were able to visit the people who received the bicycles.

In describing how much power a bicycle has to change someone’s life, Quincy’s presentation will highlight the wonders of life on two wheels.

Quincy Lee is an ocean lifeguard for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Geography, and has been using this experience to explore the nooks and crannies of bicycle touring, surfing and endurance adventures.
