Ladies Night - Reggie Sully - Helicopter Exploits

Did you ever wonder how The Lindberg Light was replaced on city hall after 60 years in storage, or how the letters "US Bank" were put on the top of a 73 story office building in downtown LA, or how Paramount Studios was able to place a 75’ tall figure of Kim Bassinger on top of the D of the "Hollywood Sign?"

Learn about these, and all the other fascinating helicopter lifts the Airlift Construction has done over the past 20 years.

Reggie Sully from Airlift Construction, will be joining us to tell us all about the world of "helicopter liftwork." They have lifted everything from mechanical equipment, to building signage, pianos, swimming pools, art work, you name it, they have lifted it.

Reggie will also be sharing his fascinating story about what its like working with the placement of baby bald eagles back in their nests on Catalina Island, while having a biologist hanging at the end of a 100’ line under their helicopter.

Pierre Odier - Chhattisgrah, Orissa, Andaman Island, India

CHHATTISGARTH:

Pierre Odier

Pierre Odier

In November 2000, sixteen districts seceded from Madhya Pradesh to form the state of Chhattisgarth, which has rich minerals resources but is badly affected by violent NAXALITE (Maoist rebel groups) activities. That’s why there are almost no foreign visitors. Pierre wanted to go there for it is an area with fascinating tribal groups located in the Bastar region. He did get to experience many of those tribal groups and found much information to supplement his images. He had some help from some well connected Kings, who welcomed him into their homes. Maharaja Yogeshwar Raj Singh Ji in Kawardha provided Pierre with a trusted guide who had connections with some of the indigenous tribes.

ANDAMAN ISLAND:

Jarawa Village, Andaman Island

Jarawa Village, Andaman Island

This island is very much off limits for single travlers, but again Pierre was lucky to have some help to visit some, but not all, the areas he was interested in. He became fascinated with the CELLULAR JAIL, completed in 1906 and so named because it is entirely made up of individual cells. Today it stands as a mute witness to the tortures meted out to Freedom Fighters, the Jail has become a hallowed place of pilgrimage for all freedom loving souls.

The native tribes became a complicated mater for Pierre and resulted in just a partial success. However, Pierre did get to visit a remote village and interact with the Jarawas. A major surprise to Pierre was the discovery of The Japanese bunkers left behind after the war. This Island is the only Indian territory occupied by the Japanese forces during the second world war.

Ladies Night
Jan Harzan - MUFON: Mutual UFO Network

Jan Harzan

Jan Harzan

Jan was named Executive Director of MUFON on August 1, 2013. He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Engineering and spent 37 years with IBM in sales and marketing as an executive before retiring to become the Executive Director of MUFON. His career includes being IBM Branch manager in Orange County, CA. IBM Services Executive in Vancouver, Canada, and IBM Senior Project Executive for the Boeing, Disney, and Technicolor accounts over the last 14 years of his career managing large outsourcing contracts for IBM.

Jan’s interest in UFOs began at the age of 8 when he read an article on Donald Keyhole and NICAP in Argosy magazine. Based on this and other research he and his brother did over the next two years, they made the decision to build a flying saucer believing that electromagnetic propulsion was the key to how these craft were able to travel such great distances. While in the process of doing this, they were visited by a real UFO, no more than thirty feet from them, with no visible means of propulsion other than making a humming noise before shooting off over the horizon. As a result of this experience, Jan pursued finding the answer to the technology these craft display believing that a breakthrough would revolutionize transportation and energy on our planet. As part of his drive to find the answer, Jan attended UCLA School of Engineering and received his B.S. in Nuclear Engineering. After college, he was hired by IBM, thinking that only a company of IBM’s stature and funding of basic research could solve this problem. 50 years later, Jan like many others, is still looking for the answer.

Jan began attending MUFON meetings in 1991. In 1995 he was appointed as State Section Director MUFON Orange County, CA. After a successful MUFON Symposium in Irvine, CA in 2001 he was elected to the MUFON Business Board. As a member of the Board Jan was instrumental in leading MUFON’s Strategic Planning which resulted in the current mission statement and goals of the organization, as well as creating the Case Management System (CMS) used for UFO reporting, tracking, and investigative follow-up. Jan currently resides in Newport Beach, California, with his wife, Annette, and their two children.
