-- Ken Freund -- "Surviving the Camel Trophy Three Times" This is a Ladies Night Presentation

Experience the challenges and the triumphs as Adventurer's Club member and former Camel Trophy team member Ken Freund relives his exploits with exciting video and slide images. Explore South America's malarial swamps, Andes mountains  and  Atacama  desert, slog through the rain forests of Central America following Cortez' trail and the Mayan civilization, then take on the jungles of Indonesia's equatorial Borneo. There, Ken suffered a fractured skull, had to be helicoptered out for surgery, flew back and rejoined his team to drive over the finish line. Camel Trophy, which is no longer held, was an international competitive off-road expedition, often described as the Olympics of four wheel drive.

Members of the Adventurers Club will be holding an unofficial cruise to beautiful Emerald Bay on the west end of Catalina Island. Bring your own boat or come with a fellow Adventurer. Several members have volunteered to provide berths on their boats. There will be an open air BBQ dinner Saturday night at 6 PM under the stars in Corsair Cove prepared by a fearless Galley Crew.

Member Randy Boelsems #1102 is a member of Corsair Yacht Club and we will be his guests. Corsair Cove has fresh water, flush toilets and hot water showers. Corsair Cove is located 100 yards east of the pier at the Boy Scout base. Please land your dingy on the beach in front of Corsair Cove (water shoes recommended). The pier maybe used for loading and unloading only and cannot be used to tie too; besides it is a long walk on a rocky beach. Corsair Cove is a rural site so please remember you must haul your own trash.
